My name is Naomi, the founder of Future Nurses Club and full time RN at a top 10 US hospital based in California. I created the Future Nurses Club, so I can help you future nurses get into nursing school. My pre-nursing journey was challenging. Getting into nursing school is so competitive, as well as a confusing process.
I want to use my experience as a previous pre-nursing student to share my knowledge, create relatable content, and work with you personally, so you can take the “pre” out of pre-nursing with confidence.
My Journey
I am a 2022 graduate of University of San Francisco’s Bachelors of Science in Nursing program. After graduating high school in 2017, I went to San Francisco State University as a pre-nursing major. I took all my prerequisite classes there for two years before I transferred to USF in the Fall of 2019.
Transferring schools was not my original plan. I decided to apply to SFSU’s and USF’s nursing schools on a whim for Fall 2019 because I was done with my prerequisite courses and didn’t know any other options for myself. I was waitlisted at USF and denied by SFSU. I was heartbroken and almost gave up.
I started applying to other nursing schools over the summer for Spring 2020 and prepared to take the TEAS again. I was planning on staying at SFSU for one more semester and take extra classes I didn’t need. Six days before the semester started and on the morning of my second TEAS test date… I got a call from USF about my admission!
And now I am a registered nurse working at my dream job!
Before college, I wasn’t even aware that you had to re-apply to nursing schools and that there isn’t a guarantee you’ll stay at your current school for the full four years. It was a lot to figure out in so little time in such a confusing system. That’s why I want to use my experiences to help you Future Nurses! It’s a challenging and frustrating journey, but so worth it!
